Q: Where did you learn to work with metal?A: (in short) I attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and majored in sculpture, fiber and performance. I took an array of sculpture classes, including both heavy metal, foundry and light metal classes. Through college I made some jewelry, but was focused mostly on working on my fiber and sculpture pieces. It wasn't until graduating college and having a series of injuries that changed my path; I started making jewelry again. (and I couldn't be happier!) The jewelry I was making was soley for me, but started being recognized by people around me. In January 2014 Avrocomy, named after my great grandmother, was officially launched. |
